The small, nugget-like Rhynchonella species preserve relatively well in the Triassic rocks of the Nelson area, though usually without their shells. However, identification of the specimens below genus level - and in some cases even to genus with any degree of certainty - is difficult due to the lack of distinctive features. I have therefore classified several specimens in the collection only as Rhynconella sp.. Some of the better specimens are shown in the image above; others are included in the gallery below.
