New Zealand's Top of the South
A fossil-hunters guide to identifying finds.
Based on several decades of collecting fossils in the Top of the South of New Zealand (and more widely), this site provides a virtual museum of the fossils that have been found, and a reference source for other fossil hunters. It covers every geological era represented in Nwew Zealand from the Cambrian to the Quaternary, and includes all major groups of fossils that are likely to be encountered in the field: brachiopods, bivalves, gastropods, trilobites. cephalopods, crinoids, corals, bryozoa and more. When complete, it will present over 600 specimens from ca 100 taxa, together with clues to identification, each referenced through a visual key.
